Is the current gen 4Runner on the j150 platform? Is it somewhat related in architecture to a Land Cruiser?
Someone on the 4Runner group chastised me for making that comparison, then proceeded to claim the 4Runner is more related to the Tacoma than any land cruiser.

The T4R is related most closely to the Hilux I thought. It shares a chassis with the Land Cruiser Prado (which we get as a Lexus of some sort).

The 4Runner is related to cars like the LC Prado, FJ Cruiser, Hilux, and Fortuner. It really isn’t related to the Tacoma.

The Prado, 4Runner, and GX460 share a platform. I think the FJ Cruiser is on the same platform as well, but I don’t know for sure.

Although, the first-gen Tacoma was, IIRC, a Hilux cab on a cheapened chassis. Later Tacomas have diverged, though, AFAIK.

It was, that’s correct.

I believe the FJ is a SWB version of the same platform.

Now that the drivetrain isnt even the same hes super wrong. The platform is LC Prado, and the drivetrain used to typically be tacoma so everybody believed they were just the same truck, one with a cap. Now they are pretty much fully independent of each other.

J20/30 = Very Cool
J40 = Overrated
J70 = Odd ball
J50 = early Lexus
J60 = Best Land Cruiser
J80 = I6 + M5 means it’s a race truck
J100 = STOP!!
J200 = Highlander? Mini van? Really stop!!
